Frequently Asked Questions…

WALKING TOURS

It’s just the two of us, how can I book?
We’d love to keep taking mixed groups on set days but unfortunately this just isn’t currently possible. The best way to experience our tours now is to get a group of 6+ together (fewer with minimum supplement) and get in touch with a date. We know this isn’t always possible, especially for independent travellers, and we do apologise.

How far and accessible is the walk?
Our relaxed walks are town-based over less than two kilometres and stops are frequent. A basic level of mobility and fitness is all you need. The Evening Tour takes an undulating bush path to town (alternative route available) and there are some gravel paths on the Brunch Tour. One of our very first tour guests was a lady in her mid-eighties who took a walking stick. Although the day was hot she described the tour as “a delightful, easy stroll” and “would recommend the tour to my fairly capable, crumbly friends”… a most helpful review! Please let us know in advance if you have any concerns related to mobility or visual impairment and we’ll make a plan.

Where do we go?
We like to surprise you… but on both tours we will visit the river precinct and our favourite in-town venues (The Evening Tour starts with gin tasting masterclass at Giniversity and takes a secret bush path into town), with exclusive food and beverage experiences at each stop. Toilets and drinking water are available all along the route. Of course we’re happy to share specific venue details via email if you’d really like to know!

Should I eat breakfast before arriving on the Brunch Tour?
Most of our guests say “I wish I’d skipped breakfast!!”. We have a substantial amount of food on the tour which covers breakfast and lunch.

Will I need dinner after the Evening Tour?
We provide substantial food, wine and cocktails on the Evening Tour - it’s effectively a progressive dinner. If desired, guests will have the opportunity to kick on after the tour and purchase further dishes or drinks at our final destination.

How much alcohol is served on the tours?
The Brunch Tour includes two glasses of premium wine in the latter half. The Evening Tour serves each guest approximately seven standard drinks over four hours and alcohol is paced for everyone’s enjoyment. We recommend pre-arranging transport home from the tour and can assist with organising this if required. Our partner venues reserve the right to refuse entry to intoxicated guests at any point in the tour. Guests who arrive already intoxicated will not be allowed to join the tour.

What if I don’t drink alcohol?
We happily cater for non-drinkers with specially-made mocktails and other soft drinks, however the ticket price is the same for all guests.

What else can we expect?
Our tours are for people who don’t do tours. Expect a warm welcome from the faces of Margaret River’s gourmet landscape and to experience Margaret River as a local. You can only really know Margaret River and its contemporary food and wine scene when you know what came before. We share the town’s most fascinating stories and exclusive experiences in an entertaining and informative way as we walk and taste.

What should I wear on the walk… and what if it rains?
We walk rain or shine, except in extreme conditions. Dress for the weather and for your walking comfort. Summer or winter, Margaret River can experience four seasons in a day. We provide umbrellas in wet weather. Hats, supportive closed footwear and layered clothing recommended.

Is the tour suitable for children?
Our tours are best suited to adults - there are some experiences which focus on wine and cocktails and are not suitable for children. We can tailor private tours for family groups upon request. We can also refer you to babysitting options, subject to availability..

Can you cater for dietary needs or preferences?
Please let us know of any special dietary needs at the time of booking and we’ll do everything we can to cater wherever possible, providing our venues have enough notice. We cater regularly for gluten-free and vegetarian diets. As our tour strives to offer a wide variety of local produce, meat and/or seafood samples may be served to some guests.

GLAMPING
Most of your questions are best answered here, but here a a few common ones!

How many tents do you have?
Just one. Deliberately. So you can enjoy a luxurious, intimate experience in nature without seeing, hearing or sharing with the space (and the stars) with other people.

What’s included?
Our airbnb rate is stay-only, however we offer a range or regional gourmet food and beverage options - just ask for our seasonal list when booking. The campsite itself has just about every amenity you’d expect to find in a luxurious self-contained apartment (probably more)… with an outdoorsy twist. Just bring appropriate clothing, a toothbrush and your favourite food and drinks.

Can I stay for just a night?
We have a two-night minimum, only because of the many, many hours that go into preparing for each new guest.

Can I bring children?
This is an adult-only experience for a maximum of two people, although we will consider an exception for infants.

Can I bring my dog?
We love dogs, but our super-friendly staffordshire terriers Banjo and Mabel can be territorial when it comes to other animals so we are unable to accommodate pets.

I’m proposing/celebrating/surprising my partner… can you help with some extra special inclusions?
We’ve hosted marriage proposals, milestone birthdays, anniversaries, honeymoons, babymoons … you name it! We love helping our guests plan gifts, surprises and celebrations - from cakes and bouquets to champagne and special notes. Share your ideas and we’ll make them happen. Want to take it next level? We work with private chefs, and Margaret River Proposal Co, for extra special events.

Can we have a campfire in summer?
The local government restricts or prohibits campfires from late spring until early autumn, with dates changing each year depending on the bushfire risk level. Campfires will be either restricted to evening or absolutely prohibited within this period. If you’ve got your heart set on a campfire, please get in touch with us for current information BEFORE BOOKING. You can also keep up to date via the Shire of Augusta Margaret River website, but please be aware dates may change at short notice.

What’s the toilet situation?
Our camp toilet is a commercial portable flushing toilet. This has been selected as the best option for guest hygiene, comfort and to ensure no permanent infrastructure impacts our very important remnant bush habitat. It is meticulously cleaned and maintained.
